12 New Habits

Hi friends, family, and followers! Thanks for stopping by my new and improved blog. I am so excited to finally have an (EASY TO USE) place where I can share all of my stories, adventures, videos, photos, and posts. I started to get frustrated with my other blog, because it wouldn’t allow me to do everything that I wanted to do, so onto new things!

I decided to write my first post about the changes I have been making this year. Even though it’s six weeks into the new year, it’s never too late to start your resolutions, or in my case, to share them.

This year I decided to do something different when it came to “new year, new me” goals. Instead of making a long list of all of the things I wanted to accomplish this year, I decided to make one healthy habit each month. I saw a blogger post on Instagram that she was doing this, and I thought it was a great idea! They say it takes 21 days to make a habit stick, and well we have about 30 days each month, so I decided to give it a try.

In January, I focused on cooking. I had a horrible habit of wanting to go out and spend money every time I felt hungry, instead of looking in my fridge or pantry and cooking what I already had. I hated this habit, so I broke it.  I started looking at recipes on Pinterest, I made weekly meal plans, shopped for all of the ingredients, and Derek and I cooked dinner just about every night.  I used to think cooking was so complicated, but then I realized that I was just lazy, and making it complicated. If Derek and I got invited to go out to lunch or dinner, we wouldn’t deny it, but eating at home and spending time in the kitchen together is one of my new favorite things.

We are saving a lot of money, spending more quality time together as a family, instead of with random strangers, and servers who interrupt our conversations, and, it is easier to watch what we eat when we cook it ourselves, so we feel a lot better.

I am excited to share with you all what I have been working on for the month of February, but it’s only been 8 days, and it’s not a habit YET, so I will wait. I am so excited to see all of the changes I make this year to improve myself, and my lifestyle. Remember, it’s never too late to start a habit, or make a goal. And it’s never too late to become the type of person you want to be.

Thanks for following along.

Onto the next adventure, Wren
