Derek’s 24th Birthday Adventure

18156853_1295619263824493_1791758317188019524_nI know you all know by now that my birthday is a big deal to me, but my husband’s is just as important. I always say there are two types of people in the world. “Those that love birthdays, and those who think of them as just another day.” Derek is the latter of the two. He knew exactly what he was getting into when he married me though. If there is something to celebrate, I will celebrate and he has no choice but to celebrate his birthday (and every other thing) when I’m around!

Two weeks before his birthday, I told him that he wasn’t allowed to work because I already had requested his birthday off, and he should do the same. We didn’t have anything planned, but I figured a day with no plans or work in the middle of the week would be a great birthday!

The night before Derek’s birthday, we celebrated with our friends and went to Buffalo wild wings for dinner. I am sad that I didn’t get any pictures. I tend to forget pictures a lot when we’re hanging out with friends, but I guess if I am too busy having fun to remember to take pictures, then that means we have some good friends. (I promise they exist. ūüėČ )

Derek’s birthday was on a Wednesday, and since I was leaving town Thursday, I wanted to spend every minute with him. We slept in (because we could) until Harvey woke him up with birthday kisses, and I surprised him up with his new gifts. I got him a book that he wanted, and a Nutri Bullet Pro. He’s been wanting a new blender for a while, and since we’re not big on spending money on things, I figured his birthday was the perfect reason to splurge and finally buy him one.

The weather was perfect that day, so we went to breakfast at the Egg and I, and then decided to go hiking! Lately, we’ve been going on hikes around our town that we haven’t done before. ¬†We have so many beautiful trails around us, and we like to take advantage of them and experience new hikes. Derek googled easy hikes that allowed pets, and we chose the first one. We ended up going out to Red Cliffs Desert Reserve. Neither one of us had been out there for a while, or with Harvey, so we figured a mile and a half in a new place would be perfect!18056744_1295619543824465_4924690347200684059_n18118635_1295619343824485_7359242659611281388_n
We ended up getting lost and off trail, so our 45 minute hike turned into 2 1/2 hours. We ran out of water, Harvey got really hot (and laid down every time he saw shade) and we had never been more happy to FINALLY see our truck. I am just glad it wasn’t any longer and that it wasn’t the middle of summer. It was probably the last thing Derek wanted to do on his birthday, but it was an adventure, like it always is with us, and we had fun!

We ended up taking a long afternoon nap when we got home, and Harvey was tired for the next 3 days, but in the end it was worth it, and a funny story to tell. And just like every time we get outside, I came home with a little more appreciation of this home of our’s. I don’t think I’ll ever get over the natural beauty that is right around us.18058122_1295619657157787_757939691062040263_n18056691_1295619570491129_3243914655438934764_n

We met up with Derek’s family for dinner, and watched Netflix when we got home. Derek says he is thankful that I am someone who thinks birthdays are a big deal, because (SURPRISE) he enjoyed having a whole day off together with Harvey and I, and spending time with his friends and family to celebrate him and his life.

A Little Life Update

Hello friends, family, and followers!

Last year, I posted a healthy new habit I made each month, and along with those¬†posts, I updated my blog with life experiences and photos from that month. I love looking back on those monthly posts to see where Derek and I were at in life, and what memories we were making at that time. Since I am not doing my healthy new habit for each month this year, I haven’t been posting as much as I would like.

I started this blog to have a place where I could share all of the many photos that I take, the videos I make, and the things we experience in our everyday lives. With that being said, ¬†I am going to start doing “journal entries” posts on my blog.

I blog mostly for myself, but I also do it for Derek, for friends and family, and eventually, our future babies. I don’t know if anyone will read these, because most of the time, people only care when you have something really exciting going on in your life. And sometimes we do very exciting things like travel, renovate our house, or adopt a dog, but most of the time we are doing not¬†so exciting every day things just like everyone else, and I want to remember the small moments just as much as the BIG exciting ones.

So here it goes!

April 10, 2017

A couple of weeks ago, we helped our sweet friend Allie film a video for film school. It was fun to be on camera and feel like a celebrity for the night, and to also watch Allie do what she loves and see her work her talent. Allie graduates next month with her bachelor’s degree in film. I have known her for about 10 years, and I am so proud of her! Here is the full video if you’d like to watch it!

Wedding season is in full swing, and to say my life is busy at the moment would be an understatement. Between working weddings, planning weddings, and attending weddings, almost every weekend from now until June I am going to spend celebrating someone else’s love. And I absolutely love it! Look at these two beautiful soon to be brides, that I get to call my good friends!

Weddings and events are definitely one of my biggest passions in life. Probably because romance, and celebrating fall into my  list of top five favorite things. (the other 3 would be traveling, dogs, and home decor) I am so happy to finally have found what I am passionate about, and be able to work my two jobs that help me fulfill that passion.

Design & Styling: Forevermore Events

Venues: The Ledges Golf Club & St. George Social Hall

Life tip: find what you’re passionate about and do it every single day.

Along with being busy with friends’ wedding celebrations and work, Derek and I went¬†out of town to Vegas for the night to see one of our favorite bands last week. Mayday Parade has been one of my favorites since I first heard them back in 2007! Derek bought me these concert tickets for Christmas, so we were really excited that the day was finally here! This was the fourth time I’ve seen them live, but it felt like the first time. The night was filled with nostalgia and happy tears. We ran into a few friends from home, and had a lot of fun! (Also shout out to our good friend Garrett for coming with us, and buying our hotel room last minute when our plans fell through!)

Life Tip: Find some good friends who enjoy the same music as you do.

This past weekend, I saw most of the people I love, and I am so happy about it. Whitney and the girls (and Benny) were in town, so I spent most of the free time that I had with them. It was good to have family time, and spend time with my sisters, and of course, see my babies. They are growing up way too fast, and it’s hard not to see them every day like I used to. Averie lost her first tooth, and is learning how to ride her bike. And Kaelyn is¬†out of the toddler stage and turning into a cute little kid. (going on 17)

On Saturday, we celebrated Demi at her bridal shower! I am one of her bridesmaids, so me and the rest of the girls put it all together and hosted it. It turned out way cute, and everyone had a good time! I wish I had taken pictures of the decor and food, but here are a few of my cute friends. (They are more fun to look at anyways.) Only 26 more days until her wedding day!

On Saturday night, we went to Buddy’s house to hangout and spend time with him since we hadn’t seen him for a while. When I say I haven’t seen my friends for a while, I mean a few weeks. It hasn’t been very long, but since we see them so often, a few weeks feels like forever! Alyssa joined us and Demi, Austin, Auston, Kayden, and Maggie eventually came over. Brandon, Maddy, Bryce, Ashlyn, and Nik were also there.

Life tip: Reach out and make time for your friends and family. Some of the best times you’ll have is not because what you were doing, but because who you were with.¬†

On Sunday, we went to breakfast at Bishop’s with Lyssa, and we later went¬†hiking with Auston, Kayden, Brady, Austin, Demi and her whole family. The weather has been so bi polar lately. Some days it will be sunny and a hour later it will be downpouring rain and windy. It is hard to know¬†what to wear, when to wash my car, and if I should make plans to do things outside, until the day of. Yesterday was the perfect day for hiking, so we did just that. We had a lot of fun and Harvey did too!

This month is only going to get busier and more crazy, but since most of the stuff I have planned is fun, and I love my jobs. I am ready for it! I don’t know if any of you have read to this point, and if you have, thank you! I am going to try to make more time out of my crazy schedule to blog¬†more often, because I love to do it. ¬†Thank you for stopping by my little personal corner of the internet.

Life tip: Always make time for the things you absolutely love to do.

Onto the next adventure, Wren

23rd Birthday in Disney

This past month has been crazy! Between wedding season, my birthday, and leaving town twice I have hardly had anytime to sit down and blog, or finish this video. I finally had some extra free time today, so TA-DA here it is in all of its glory!

We had such a magical day in Disney celebrating my birthday. It hasn’t even been a month and I am already ready to go back. (Don’t tell Derek ¬†ūüėČ )

I’ve been learning a lot of new things with my video editing program, and I am so glad that I picked up this hobby. I know my videos are nothing like Hailey Devine’s or Indy Sev’s, but they’re my memories, and video making brings out my creative side, so I enjoy doing it! Plus- I love reliving some of the best days of my life through these short videos.

Thanks for watching!
